Simone’s story:

Simone grew up in England. At age 14, his parents split up. As a result, Simone went from middle class to “no money in the house.” Simone became a waiter and loved it. He attributes his positive experience to his first boss, a mentor who instilled in Simone a love of serving people. As a talker, he loved making the patrons feel welcome and he discovered his inner showman. Simone worked his way up and by age 19, he had worked at over 300 restaurants, eventually becoming the youngest manager at a Michelin rated establishment. Simone was surrounded by celebrities and making a great salary. However, by age 22, Simone had his first “middle age life crisis.” He was bored and burning out. Simone got depressed, sought counseling, and started diving into self-help content: podcasts, books, seminars, and videos. As he immersed himself, he had an epiphany that he wanted to help others empower themselves in their lives.

Simone’s big why:

Simone’s big why is his family: making sure he can provide for his wife, his mom and to live a lifestyle of freedom while helping others. The way Simone is helping others is to help them avoid the mistakes he experienced while building a business.

Biggest challenge today:

“Go beyond myself.” As Simone shared in his big why, we all start with the self, our own needs. But at some point, when you hit that apex, you look beyond yourself. There’s a point where you’re no longer reactive but proactive in building a business, taking care of employees. That’s when you stop being just a one-man shop.

Moving forward past that challenge:

Asking his team members to keep him accountable. Simone has also hired an executive director with experience in running large organizations. Finally, to schedule more time for himself and not hustle all the time.

Knowledge bursts:

  1. Best tip for public speaking and getting over stage fright:

    1. Practice! Know up front what you’re going to say, especially if you’ve never done it before. Once you do, practice in front of people know you or a mastermind.

    2. Another way to get great experience: get a job as a waiter or direct door-to-door sales.

  2. Favorite tool or productivity practice:

    1. Filmic pro: records video from your phone in 4K.

    2. Magisto: for editing videos.

  3. How Simone is moving forward today:

    1. Meditating regularly. This is a recent practice for Simone. Simone is having his clients keep him accountable by participating in meditation challenges.

Support the Podcast:

  1. The Corporate Cliches Adult Coloring Book: makes the perfect stocking stuffer or white elephant gift.

  2. Try out Audible (affiliate link).

  3. Try out Amazon Prime (affiliate link).

Who is Simone in five years?:

Simone will be a parent. With respect to the business, Simone will help more than 100,000 experts become authorities in their field. Finally, Simone will be playing pro basketball, second division.

Parting wisdom:

“Alone you can go fast but together you can go far. Together, we can achieve exponential results. It’s not about putting your head down and working hard, it’s about finding people that share your vision, that share your mission, that share your purpose, that share your values, that are going to support you day in and day out to be the best person you can be and to achieve the goals you want to achieve. Together.”
